    BASF has been active in Vietnam since the establishment of its representative office in 1994 and celebrates its 30-year presence in the country this year. BASF Vietnam Limited was set up in 2009. The company maintains two sales offices in Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội, offering solutions for Vietnam's key industries, including Agriculture, Construction, Automotive, Footwear, Paints & Coatings and Electrical & Electronics. BASF's sales to customers in Vietnam were approximately €238 million in 2023. BASF employed 110 people in Vietnam as of the end of the year.

    OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

    • Manage sales of surface treatment business unit under the Chemetall brand in assigned territories of Vietnam (VN) to generate sustainable sales growth for G-ECT SEA.

    • Identify and exploit market potentials to explore and create customer needs ensuring profitable sales growth.

    • Develop and implement market assessment, sales, and business plans in alignment with G-ECT Strategy followed by a consistent and timely roll-out of a concrete growth roadmap and action plan for VN.

    • Coordinate Surface Treatment activities for assigned Business Segment and VN territories and thereby acts as single point of contact (SPOC) for the assigned scope.

    MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACTIVITIES

    Sales Management and Development

    • Explore and develop new business by high market presence in the field to ensure sustainable growth.

    • Prepare, negotiate, and conclude business contracts and maintain business growth with customers.

    • Ensure relationship management w/ all levels of seniority of customer organization (esp. key decider).

    • Coordinate launch of new products at key customers aligned w/ Business Management and Marketing

    • Provide trainings and share know-how with customers and distribution partners to ensure, that the full potential and advantages of G-ECT's products and process solutions are being materialized.

    • Maintain and manage sales opportunities, leads, and visit reports maintained in Salesforce CRM tool.

    • Ensure accurate demand forecasting as basis for stock planning to secure reliable supply to VN.

    • Ensure "on time response" related to commercial, quality, and technical inquiries / issues of customers. Achieve net sales / profitability budgets and implement pricing measures timely and efficiently.

    Market Intelligence

    • Explore and exploit customer needs, industry trends and drivers, unique selling proposition to recommend the best solution(s), leading to the achievement of value creation for the customers and BASF (by Chemetall Process / Solution Selling approach).

    • Conduct studies and analyze market trends, competitors, product applications, processes and technology and develop related marketing / selling strategies for VN market.

    • Cooperate with G-ECT SEA Business and Marketing as well as APAC Segment Management to develop a strategic growth roadmap for the assigned sales segments in VN.

    Miscellaneous

    • Participate in and contribute to regional / subregional G-ECT meetings, workshops, and conferences.

    • Supporting the customer visit when oversea' s ECT experts & management team to local customers, Distributor/Agents, and Organizations.

    • Strictly adhere to BASF Group's Compliance Code of Conduct as well as all BVL country policies

    JOB REQUIREMENTS


    • Degree in Chemistry

    • At least 5 years experiences in commercial or technical roles in Metal Surface Treatment industry

    • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and matrix organizations

    • Good commercial skills

    • Good knowledge and network of Surface Treatment market, products, application processes and technology

    • Native Vietnamese and good command and English; additional language such as Korean, Japanese, or Chinese language are an advantage

    • Presentation, conflict management and communication skills to convince all levels of seniority and departments, such as GM, Production, Application and Procurement as well as Line operators and Lab staff

    • Relationship management and negotiation skills

    • Microsoft Office user skills (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook); additionally Salesforce CRM know-how is an advantage.
