KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Outreach Specialists continuously engage the RMIT community to raise awareness of the service and how to access support. Further, Outreach Specialists develop and deliver workshops for students and staff to gain an understanding of mental health. Outreach Specialist staff deliver services in 1:1 or small group settings. As a member of the Wellbeing Department, Outreach Specialist staff also coordinate events and campaigns throughout the year.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Community Engagement

  • Develop and implement a universitywide digital campaign plan, in consultation with the Manager, to ensure student and staff know how to identify mental health concerns. Design and deliver regular surveys to gauge the effectiveness of the community engagement efforts and revise commutations strategy.
  • Develop and implement a universitywide digital campaign plan, in consultation with the Manager, to ensure RMIT staff and students understand the different ways that Counselling and Psychological Services can support them.
  • Coordinate the digital campaign plan with other Wellbeing services, Communications, and Students and Education Portfolio stakeholders
  • Continually research trends in mental health matters in Vietnamese and expat student populations, to adapt the community engagement programs to be evidencebased and culturally relevant.
  • Develop a standardized format for the documentation of effective communications strategies to ensure branding of Counselling and Psychological Service is consistent each year.
  • Coordinate with NGOs, medical professionals, and mental health providers to develop a network of guest speaker workshops
Wellbeing Department Workshops and Events

  • Write a scope and sequence for universitywide curriculum of essential topics for students to understand related to mental health topics.
  • Write and deliver workshops that meet the learning objectives of these topics in engaging formats for virtual, hybrid, and inperson formats. Obtain feedback on student perception of workshops and continually improve.
  • Develop a student internship program that trains and supervises students to deliver workshops related to mental health.
  • Document the community engagement curriculum in a standardized format and revise regularly with staff and student feedback.
  • Provide induction and orientation workshops for higher education and SEUP to be familiar with Wellbeing services.
  • Organize Wellbeing Fair, Vietnam Child Protection & Safeguarding Summit, and other Wellbeing Events throughout the year.
Direct Student Services

  • As a member of the Counselling and Psychological Services, provide 1:1 or small group intervention services to students
  • Develop and implement student interventions in collaboration with schools and professional support services to ensure student progress with mental health, learning support, or safer community needs.
  • Develop and facilitate group programs, family sessions, and seminars supplementary to mental health needs of students.
  • Coordinate with other Wellbeing services to ensure students with complex needs are receiving coordinated care
  • Contribute to individual, group and peer supervision and case management discussions with team members and Manager, Counselling and Psychological Services
Administrative Work

  • Assist in continuous improvement of the service, including policy and handbook review
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide data for reporting
  • Coordinate with all Wellbeing Department staff to plan departmentwide events.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the line manager

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, related field. Master's preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide engaging workshops and plan large community campaigns utilizing digital learning platforms and communications technology
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver direct services to student to address their mental health
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly, cooperatively, and productively in a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on challenging or conflictual situations.
  • Ability to integrate policy, procedures, and university values into professional practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and crosscultural skills.
  • Technology Skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Teams).
